Guidance: My phone want a password to connect to my printer

  • Your printer does not have a password, but your router does. If you have installed any third party application that secures your apps, enter the password that you have assigned for unlocking the application and try.
  • Check whether the latest printer application is installed on your phone before you start. If your printer has a display panel, select Settings -> Network Connection or Network Settings.
  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard or Network Setup for further assistance and the printer looks for a list of nearby networks, choose your network, enter the credentials of the router and tap Connect.
  • Go to your phone settings and check whether the printer is added to the list of devices in the Devices menu. If you are an iPhone user, open AirPrint and check if the latest version of it is installed.
  • Open a document or photo and select the Share icon.

If your printer is connected wirelessly, then connect the device with USB for some time and follow the link available on the manufacturer’s website to install the recent firmware update on your printer.

In case it doesn’t work, perform a hard reset on the printer. Make sure to connect your printer directly to a wall socket and not to any spike busters or surge protectors. With your printer powered on, unplug the power wire from the back of the printer and the wall socket. Unplug the USB cable if inserted. Wait for close to 3 minutes and then press and hold the Power button on your printer for close to 30 seconds to remove the remaining charge.

  • Move to the RPC option, right-tap, and click Properties.
  • Now, scroll up to Function Discovery Provider Host, right-click, and tap Properties.
  • Modify the startup type to ‘manual’ and start it.
  • Do the same for Function Discovery Provider Host.
